I decided to do a banner as my tutorial. I got a good response on the one I did last month so why not show you how you can make your own. Not to mention this kit is packed with so much fun stuff that you can make a banner and some pages oh and even a wall plaque! Let's get started.
supply list
To get started make sure you have a nice work surface. Some place to spread out.
1. Choose the papers you would like on your banner from the RVK. I like to use as many different papers as I can. I used Cosmo cricket paper since it was two sided I got a variety of patterns. Here is my list; 2 leaves,2 brown woodgrain, 1 green woodgrain, 1 plaid, 1 car, 1 sky/water.
2. You will need your Cosmo cricket black board book plate. Take your book plate and trace it on your papers of choice and chipboard sheet. You can get chipboard sheets at your lss or in pattern paper packaging. My banner says Thankful so I needed 8 book plates. Also be mindful of how u are going to do your banner and how you want your patterns to lay. You can do them vertical or horizontal. Once you have traced everything cut out what you have done.
3. Glue down your patterns to your chipboard pieces making sure the pen marks are not showing. This is why it is very important to plan ahead.
4. Once they are dry it is time to decorate them. I glimmer misted my papers to give it a more rustic look. I chose some rub ons and my woodgrain contact paper to decorate some of my bookplates. Choose the ones you want and after you have rubbed them down cut out and set aside.
5. T-Swirl frame on wood contact paper. Glued it down then stitched around it. Punch hole in bottom left corner string ribbon and button thru. H-glued stick on the side of the letter. Cut out random leaves and glued down. One pop dotted. A-stitched around boarder in green. Cut 2 in lace glued down. Used bird and medallion on wood contact paper glued down. N-Rub on ribbon on each side. Punched tag and flowers from music sheets. Tag I layered on top of each other and bent edges up. Stitched around tag. Added vintage button to flower.K-Glue down green velvet ribbon, acorn, and buttons. F- Scroll rub on for the library paper. Cut out and glimmer misted. Birds on contact paper. Yellow stitches in corner. U-cut out owls from note pad page. Glimmer misted them. Glue stick on side of the u with a strong glue. Brown feather at the top. L-running stitch to green felt leaf. Glue down. Punch hole in bottom right corner string ribbon and button through.
6. Once you have got everything glued down punch holes in top corners to string your ribbon through. Do so to all book plates. Make sure you have ribbon long enough for all bookplates and spaces plus 5" on each side to hang down.
7. Attach pine cones (optional) to sides. Hang across your door or fireplace.
Here are more creations I came up with using this one kit.
I will have a mini tutorial on my blog for the Give Thanks plaque. If you make a banner pls link it here so I can take a look! Sat is Theresa's challenge and Jen's creations. Make sure to keep checking in!
