.cutie bear hat pattern.

A cute and easy hat to crochet for Blythe or Baby! 

I'm not claiming this hat to be my idea, in fact there are many great bear ear hats out there for purchase on Etsy, both for dolls and little ones. :) Like this one, this one, and this one.  I wanted to see if I could make one myself, and this is what I came up with.

You'll need worsted weight yarn in the color of your choice, and a 4.0 mm crochet hook.

To start, chain 4, and slip stitch into first chain to create a loop.

Row 1: Ch 2. DC (double crochet) 12 into center of loop. Join with a slip stitch in 2nd ch. Ch 2.

Row 2: *1 DC in first DC, 2 DC in next DC* repeat from * until end of round, join with a slip stitch in 2nd ch.

Row 3: repeat row 2

Row 4: repeat row 2

(for babies/newborns, repeat row 2 for an additional row)

Row 5 & 6: 1 DC in each DC until end of row, ch 2.

(for babies/newborns, repeat row 5 for another row or 2 depending on the size you want)

Row 7: repeat row 5, but only ch 1 at end of round.

Row 8: 1 SC (single crochet) in each DC until end of round, finish off.

Optional Row 8 (scalloped edge): Make one slip stitch in first DC. *Skip next DC, 5 DC in next DC. Skip next DC, slip stitch in next DC. Repeat from * to end of round.

For ears: Ch 3, slip stitch into first chain to make a loop, Ch 2.  Continue by making 14 DC in center of loop, and joining with a slip stitch in 2nd ch. (For babies/newborns, you can ch 1, and go around one more row of SC stitches to make the ears a little bigger)

Sew the ears onto the 3rd row anywhere you see best fit, using a yarn needle.
