Spiced syrup. Not to be confused with spiked syrup.
Get your mind out of the gutters, people:)
Also I should note that I used a very cute (in my opinion) vintage syrup dispenser to house my homemade syrup creation.
I guess I'm just bragging now. Sorry.
"Spiced Syrup" what does it really mean, you may be wondering? So glad you asked. Actually I was trying to create a breakfast syrup that tasted like autumn. Wouldn't it be great to bottle that cozy fall-time feeling and pour it over your pancakes in the morning?
No, I'm not out of my mind. You can too bottle a feeling. I'm sure of it...
Spiced Syrup. Makes 3-4 generous cups
Ingredients: 2 cups water, 3 1/2 cups brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/4 cup caramel
In a saucepan, bring to a low boil the water and sugar. Allow this to simmer for 15-20 minutes (you don't want a rolling boil because the sugar could get a bit bitter if it burns). Stir in the cinnamon and caramel and simmer for another 5-10 minutes to allow syrup to thicken just a bit more. Remove from heat and allow to cool before pouring into your glass container and storing in the refrigerator. (If the syrup is still hot when you refrigerate it you may get some crystallization in your syrup.)
You've got to be kidding me!? I'm just in awe of this post!! Seriously LOL, I LOVE autumn and syrup, this is perfect! You are just the greatest :)

I just got a similar vintage syrup container and I've found myself making (extra) excuses fro pancakes!

I made a really good syrup the other day as well. I put in 1/2 cup of water, brought it to a simmer, then added 1 cup of Honey. Then once it was all warm and thin, i added a splash (i don't know how much because i just sprinkled it in) of ground cinnamon and then added 1 teaspoon of vanilla. We had friends over for homemade pancakes and this syrup was a huge hit!!!

This is awesome & makes me REALLY want a cute vintage syrup dispenser of sorts.
I'd like to try this but have a question: do you mean like caramel syrup?

Yes, I am wondering too, what kind of caramel?

I want to put this on everything.

My high school chemistry teacher once told me that I had a sexy sneeze and I should put it in a bottle and sell it for money. Besides being mortified (and totally creeped out) I thought "that is so gross." But putting autumn in a bottle is brilliant. Can't wait to try this!

Emma, I'd love you FOREVER if you figured out a good pumpkin spice syrup. I'm trying to make my own pumpkin spice lattes this fall!

Cara-Mia and Liv: yes, its caramel syrup. Like the kind you can usually find near the ice cream syrup section. dulce de leche would be amazing too.
pinksuedeshoe-your high school teacher was a creepster. :)
Beck-forever? really? :)

Yes Emma! I agree with Beck.
Puh-lease figure out how to make a syrup for our homemade pumpkin-spice lattes?
I also agree with everyone else. You are a total genius.

You make me smile regardless but pumpkin spice would be an uber-plus! :]

Anything that comes out of that adorable dispenser has to be amazing! :)

We do not at all times get our hopes and dreams, and we never generally get our very own way.
But do not quit hope, since you could make a variation a person scenario and just one man or woman at a time.

Looks delicious! The only change I would make is to add crumbled bacon. But that's because I love bacon. And it goes so well with potatoes!
