My friend Kristen has that disease where she can't eat gluten. Ever. So this $5 and under gift idea was made with her (and her puppy chow loving boyfriend) in mind:)
I made puppy chow (sometimes called "muddy buddies") and gift wrapped it in a special tin. For the recipe and instructions for making this delicious treat click here. Chex brand cereal is gluten free! And they have many more gluten free recipes on their website.
Now that you have made your puppy chow it's time to gift wrap it! I used a thrifted forest green tin and a recycled raisin container (thank you Andie:). First clean out your container, then line it with wax paper.
Now fill the container with puppy chow and trim the edges of the wax paper. I chose to leave a bit around the four corners and fold it over before replacing the lid.
Decorate your containers and presto: delicious gifts!
Other yummy treat ideas (these are NOT necessarily gluten free): chocolate covered pretzels, homemade toffee, or made from scratch marshmallows to go in smores or hot chocolate.
i think normal chocolate has gluten in it too... but we buy the allergy kind that is basically made of rice. this is such a good idea. i need to call you back. LOVES
