We are happy to host our first Handmade Ornament Swap! You are all invited to join us in putting some handmade love into the holiday season.
We are taking names until Nov. 19th to join in. In order to have ornaments in time for December celebrations, we'd like to have all ornaments post marked by Dec. 1st. This leaves a short time for handmade ornaments but we'd like to think deadlines motivate no matter how much time is available. Each person will make three handmade ornaments to send out to three different people. In return, you will receive three different ornaments from three other people. You will be matched up as entries come in. Your three handmade ornaments can be the same or different. Please comment if you have any questions but re-read this post carefully to make sure you catch all the info first.
Ornaments can be made out of almost anything. Paper, Fabric, Cork, Wood, Plastic, Hard Candy...use your imagination. Check out holiday ornament swaps on flickr for more ideas.
International crafters are welcome. Please let me know in your info. if you are unable to ship internationally.
Here are the rules:
1. Your three ornaments must be at least 50% handmade. This means you can buy something and alter it or make it from scratch.
2. Your three ornaments must be sent out by Dec. 1st to your three lucky receivers.
3. Your three ornaments can be exactly the same or all different.
4. If you are unable to send your ornaments once names have been given out, you need to contact Rachel as soon as you are able so she can get things rearranged. Life happens and sometimes craft swaps need to be cast aside in order to deal with more important things. However, we need to know so we can still allow your partner to enjoy the swap.
5. To enter, I need to receive an e-mail from you with your name, mailing address, e-mail and if you'd like to ship internationally or not.
Send your name, mailing addy, and if you'd like to ship internationally to Rachel here:
racheldenbow@gmail.com
Feel free to post pics of your ornaments on your blogs, etc. as your partners are not the same as those who are sending to you. Vice verca. As always, we'd love to see your ornaments so feel free to post them on the Red Velvet Art flickr group. We'll be reminding you of deadlines as time passes and sharing our own ornaments. Feel free to post this on your blog or link to this post to share the fun with your friends!
Bring on the handmade love!
EDITED: Check out this flickr group for inspiration. This is the first swap I did last year that prompted the RVA swaps. These girls had 400 people last year and its gone up to 600 this year! So fun!
